Passage (S1): Last week Mary decided to write an article about learning languages. She knew that by watching movies and listening to the news she could increase her knowledge and learn languages of different regions. She also searched for mother tongues of people in her favorite continents and countries. In this project she found many familiar types of languages across the countries and she found how strong some languages are. She also realized that about 14 percent of African languages are endangered and that it was really valuable to know the societies which are communicating by these languages. Learning a language means learning a culture. And learning a culture means power and identity. She found many foreigners that were native speakers of her favorite language, English. It is important to know an international language but in her project Mary decided to interview a person that was a native speaker of a small village in Africa. Mary searched the net to find how she could communicate with the person and he is going to be their online guest next week at school. According to the passage (S1), Mary ............ for her project.
